This text asks for your explicit consent only to the processing described below. You don't need to give it to use Bookmark; if you don't, no part of the service is limited. General information on how your personal data is processed is in the separate Privacy Notice.

Which data. The days and times you open the app, when and how long your reading sessions are, whether you open the notifications shown to you, and how you respond to picks (hiding one, adding it to a shelf).

For what. A pattern of your reading habits is drawn from this data so that:

  • reminders reach you at the moment that suits you best, and no more often than needed,
  • Monday picks get better at matching your reading habits.

This pattern is used only to tune your own experience; it is not shown to other readers, not used for advertising or marketing, and not shared with third parties.

Transfer and retention. The data is held on the Frankfurt servers of the hosting providers listed in section 6 of the Privacy Notice, under the standard contracts published by the Board. It is kept while your consent stands.

Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by turning off Settings › Privacy › "Learn from my reading habits" or by writing to hello@bookmarksociety.co. When you do, this processing stops at once and the pattern drawn from your reading habits is deleted within 30 days. Withdrawal does not affect processing done on the basis of your consent before that.

I give my explicit consent to the processing of my personal data described above, so that reminders and picks are tuned to me by learning from my reading habits.

You make this choice at sign up and with the "Learn from my reading habits" switch under Settings › Privacy. The switch starts off; turning it on gives consent, leaving it off does not. Your choice is recorded with its date.
